Detailed plan of the mobile phone number conversion

Particularly, the conversion of the mobile phone number from 11-digit to 10-digit is as followed:

MobiFone's 11-digit subscriber numbers are 0120, 0121, 0122, 0126, 0128 and will be converted to 070, 079,077, 076, 078.

The conversion starts at 00:00:00 on September 15, 2018 and ends at 23:59:59:59 on June 30, 2019.

After the conversion is completed, all ten digits of the 10-digit cell phone number will remain unchanged. For example, if you want to make a call to a 10-digit MobiFone number 090.2345678, you will still be dialing 090.2345678 before and after the conversion.

The number of subscribers (the last 7 digits) of the 11-digit mobile subscriber and VSAT subscriber is unchanged, only the network code is converted. For example: to call MobiFone's 11-digit number of 0120.4567890, before changing the network code you must dial 0120.4567890, while after changing the network code you have to dial 070.4567890, which means replacing the old network code (120) with the new network code (70) when dialing.



Measure to ensure smooth communication

The Ministry of Information and Communications along with telecommunication enterprises take measurements to minimize impact, ensure smooth, uninterrupted connection for subscribers.

Specifically, parallel dialing will be conducted within 60 days from the start of the transition. During this time, users dial at the old network code or dial at the new network code, the call is successful both way.

  • Starts a parallel dial at 00:00 hours on September 15, 2018 and ends in parallel dial at 23:59 hours on November 14, 2018.
  • Mute the message at 00:00 hours on November 15, 2018 and end the message at 23:59 hours on June 30, 2019.

During this time, dialed calls under the new network code will proceed normally; Dialed calls under the old network code will receive a notification tone (in 02 languages, Vietnamese and English) indicating that the network code has been changed and that dialing instructions are available under the new network code.
